Surgeon Peter is big hitter at cricket cup
Top NHS Forth Valley medical professional Peter Moses was in scorching form with the bat on the world stage.
The consultant orthopaedic surgeon hit the high notes at the Over 60s Cricket World Cup in Chennai.
He top scored with 71 for Rest of the World in their clash with South Africa in his native city.
Peter was batting middle order for the Rest of the World team in the tournament.
The team had to overcome the challenge of losing three bowlers who were unable to secure visas for the event.
He is honorary president and player at Stenhousemuir Cricket Club and was one of seven Scots picked for the Rest of the World team. He was recognised at the event with the ‘Tourist of the Tour’ award for all round effort and contribution to the team.
Australia were crowned champions in the global event after beating England in the final.
Peter said: “It was an excellent tournament which included some ex professionals who had played at international level.
“Despite the challenges of losing three key players and playing in oppressive heat we were proud of our victory against India and ran many other teams very close.”
We told last month how the consultant was planning to swap his scalpel for a sweater after being selected to play in one of sport’s most prestigious annual sporting events for seniors.
This major international event, which involves 12 other countries, takes place in Chennai on India’s southern coast.
With no Scottish team involved, Mr Moses joined the Rest of the World team, which included seven Scottish players as well as players from Zimbabwe, Australia, Sweden, Spain, Canada, Malta, Kenya, West Indies and the United Arab Emirates.
He said last month: “It was a great honour and privilege for me to represent Scotland in this team and an incredible opportunity to return to my native city of Chennai to play in a World Cup.”
