Plans revealed for 20 homes in Tyndrum
Almost 20 new homes could be built in Tyndrum.
Rural Stirling Housing Association has submitted an application to Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park Authority planners for land west of the A82 north of the Ben Doran Hotel in the village.
The proposal involves creating 18 affordable homes, a new access road and public realm enhancements.
MAST Architects has drawn up plans for four one-bed cottage flats, two one-bed single storey houses, and eight two-bed & four three-bed two-storey general properties. In documents, they said: “currently, the site is unused. “The proposed development site is contained within a larger site currently allocated for Mixed Use (MU1) in the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs Local Development Plan. The part of the site currently proposed for development does not front the road, therefore is more conducive to housing, leaving the road-fronting land developable for retail use visible to passing trade.
“Located where it is, the surrounding habitat is important, and maintaining corridors of landscape and biodiversity essential. The north west border bounded by the river and existing tree bank will be maintained and protected during the build process, meaning existing trees are left standing and bound the new development.
“An open area of amenity space will be created adjacent to the site entrance. This will have planted borders, with a grassed centre, both encouraging wildlife and insects to this part of the site, but also be usable by occupants of the development, with a shared grass area where children can play.
“The site has an existing 1800mm deer fence at the edge of the Crom Allt, this fence will be retained. To allow residents to enjoy the surrounding natural landscape, 1100mm rylock fences will be used throughout the site.
“Gates are created in some rear back fences to encourage children to play within the surrounding area.”
