Dig this... MP attends groundbreaking event

-

HAZEL Grove MP William Wragg, donned a hard hat and hi-vis jacket to mark the ground-breaking of McCarthy and Stone’s new Retirement Living development off Peter Street in Hazel Grove.

Mr Wragg was joined by Roy Eames, site manager for McCarthy and Stone, to officially mark the start of construction and he also had the opportunity to view forthcoming plans for the new development, which will compromise 28 one and two-bedroom apartments, and which will be available to buy later this year.

The development will see the expansion of McCarthy and Stone’s previous scheme, Woodgrove Court, which is situated on the adjoining land.

The scheme will offer independent living with the peace of mind of on-site support with its very own house manager, a security entrance system, plus 24-hour emergency call points.

Mr Wragg said: “I was delighted to accept the invitation from McCarthy Stone to mark the start of construction and also to look at the plans for the development.

“Living independently and securely is incredibly important at any age, and it’s great to see developments such as this one providing more choice for people over 60 who may want to downsize and which in turn frees up the broader housing stock for families and first time buyers in the local area.

“It is pleasing that this site is just a few miles from an array of independent shops, cafes and high street retailers which will no doubt benefit from having the development so close by, and so new homeowners can easily access everything they need right on their doorstep.”

Fiona Brooks, regional sales and marketing director for McCarthy and Stone North West, said: “It was fantastic to welcome everyone down to the development to commemorate the occasion, especially with William on hand to place the first spade in the ground.

“Even at this early stage we’ve already received significant interest from local retirees and we’re urging anyone interested in securing one of these stunning apartments for themselves to register their interest soon or risk disappointment.”
