Family where birthdays are really easy to remember . . .

ABABY girl has beaten the odds to become the THIRD member of her family to be born on the same day.

Little Miya Brathwaite became the third member of her family to have a birthday on June 18, when she arrived safe and well at Stepping Hill Hospital on Saturday.

The 7lb 13oz tot shares her special day not only with her maternal grandma, Danielle Mostyn-Harratt, but also her great-great-grandma, Mary Mostyn-Harratt.

And in yet another special coincidence, Mary turned 39 on the day her daughter-in-law Angela Mostyn-Harratt gave birth to Danielle in 1977, as did Danielle on the day Miya was born.

Danielle says she always had a feeling her daughter Amy Quinn, 22, from Bredbury, might give birth to her first grandchild on her birthday - up until Amy’s labour began on June 16.

But after a lengthy twoday labour, Miya did indeed arrive on June 18, at 5.30am. Danielle, 39, from Cheadle Heath, said: “I couldn’t have asked for a better present than Miya.

“I just had a gut feeling during Amy’s pregnancy that the baby would arrive on my birthday, but when she went into labour on the 16th, I thought maybe not.

“Then it got to just before midnight on the 17th and I realised she’d be here on my birthday.

“The midwife said that in 17 years, she’d never known three generations of the same family to be born on the same day.

“It’s just so nice to be able to share my birthday with my grandma and my granddaughter.”

Mary, 78, from Edgeley, added: “I can still remember Danielle being born on my birthday, clear as anything. I did wonder if Miya would be born on the same day too.”

The five-generation family are now looking forward to many joint birthday celebrations especially next year, when Miya turns one and Danielle turns 40.

Amy said: “We’ll be getting the champagne out to celebrate.

“We might even be sitting here again with another one in 39 years!”

Miya’s great-grandma Angela, 59, from Great Moor, added: “My own mum died before my children were born, so it’s such a privilege to see my great granddaughter, because my mum never did.

“We’re rich in family and to me, it doesn’t get any better than that. It’s absolutely priceless.”
