ANEW Heaton Moor events venue has opened its doors to the public.

The venue, which was previously the Moor Suite, has been transformed by its new owners to become Village Point after a major £250,000 renovation project.

It officially opened with a VIP launch event on Thursday.

The venue, owned by father and son investment team Steve and Liam Dillon, features three main spaces; The Ballroom for wedding receptions and larger events, The Lodge for more intimate events and The Hub, a modern workspace for freelancers, small businesses, entrepreneurs, and students.

The venue even has its own soundproof recording studio.

The Dillons are also in the process of applying for a wedding licence and hope to eventually offer full wedding packages for couples.

The project to restore the building to its former glory began last October and has revealed a wealth of original features.

Owner Steve said: “This building is 135 years old and really, it’s been a restoration project.

“The very first thing we did was strip it right back.

“I was a member when this was the Moor Suite and I always thought the building was fundamentally beautiful.

“I thought that if we could restore it, it could become a truly community focused entertainment venue.”

The venue will be working closely with other local businesses, including Brassica Grill, Barrett’s Event Caterers and party company HaganHillman.

Steve, who has lived in Heaton Moor for more than 30 years, added: “What we’re good at is creating a fabulous venue - now we’ve got to create that fabulous experience.”

As well as hosting private functions, community groups will also have the option to hire the venue to host regular activities.

Steve added: “What we’d like is that during the week, it will be used by a mix of the local community, and at the weekend, we’d like it to be used for celebration events.

“We’re in a great position in Heaton Moor, now we’ve got a fabulous venue and a lot of great ideas.

“We’ll be very much guided by what the community wants.”
