Reddish arts charity celebrates after its major transformation
THE award-winning arts and creativity charity Arc are celebrating the transformation of their Reddish hub.
The charity’s home has been given a major refurbishment and now includes a new contemporary gallery seating area, shop and light, airy studios.
Now the team is developing a new programme of creative activities with a focus on wellbeing.
They also plan to focus on social media, business and giving networking support to artists and practitioners.
Marketing officer Lucie Fitzpatrick said: “We are really excited to be able to offer more to visitors that was previously possible.
It’s important to us that the centre is a space for the local and wider community to enjoy the benefits to wellbeing that creativity brings, whether it’s families enjoying activities together, people having a go at something new, or just taking time out to enjoy their lunch in a peaceful, inspiring space.”
The team are keen to hear people’s views about what creative and wellbeing activities they’d like to see happening at Arc in the future and will be opening their doors to the public and inviting visitors of all ages to tour the building, browse in the gallery, shop and cafe and have a go at the free taster activities on offer during their open week. It is open on Wednesday, June 29 and Thursday, June 30 from 1pm to 8pm, and Friday July 1 and Saturday, July 2 from 10am to 4pm.
Resident potter Sylvia Glover will be demonstrating her craft all week and there will be another chance to see the touring creative writing and textiles exhibition ‘Unpicked:Restitched - Where is the Heart of Stockport?’ in the gallery.
There will also be information about Arc’s current programme and a chance to find out about volunteering opportunities with Arc. Visitors participating in the consultation will also have the chance to win an Arc goodie bag.
Lucie added: “If you fancy having a go at something new, there will be a range of free tasters with artists on hand to help you kickstart your creativity and get drawing, writing, and crafting and exploring Instagram, as well as family friendly sessions where you can make an animal mask, design outfits for paper dolls, or create a personalised tote bag to take home.”
The Greg Street based building has free parking and the centre is fully accessible. To find out more or to receive up-to-date information about Arc’s programme of exhibitions and events, see Arc-Centre.org or find them on Facebook and Twitter.
