Amis bolsters County attack

-

STOCKPORT County manager James Gannon has added to his strike-force with the signing of ex-County trainee Josh Amis from Northwich Victoria.

Amis arrives with a growing reputation as a versatile young attacker with a keen eye for goal.

County boss James Gannon said: “I am delighted to have secured Josh, and to be able to add him to our attacking options.

“It is important that we have the type of striker

‘This is a step up, but it’s a step up I feel he can make back at a club he knows well’

that offers physical presence in central attack to compliment our other types of attackers.

“Josh can act as a target man but I think he offers more than just that, as at Northwich Vics he offered a mobile, strong running, point attacker who has the physical skills to break behind defences and between centre backs.

“This is a step up for Josh from Evostik North, but it’s a step I feel he can make back at a club he knows well.

“Given his age, experience and physical attributes I feel he can adapt very well to the demands of the Conference North and once again his overall profile provides scope for growth and development and a real ability to move forward with the Club.

“21 year old Josh was a YTS at Stockport County FC and formed a great partnership with Danny Whitehead in County’s Youth team. He then moved to Preston North End FC when the County youth structure was dismantled, and from there Northwich Victoria took him on work experience before securing his services permanently three seasons ago.

“I worked with Josh throughout that period and he has always been a very committed player who shows great maturity and mental strength for his age. Last season Josh shared the number 9 point attacker role with Ritchie Bennett, but Josh still went on to score a credible 18 goals and have the best goal to games ratio at the club.”
