‘Illegal rave’ keeps residents awake until 6am

-

FURIOUS families say they were kept awake for hours after hundreds of people took part in a countryside rave.

Police were called twice to leafy Woodford on Stockport’s border with Cheshire at the weekend after reports of up to 200 youngsters partying in a field until 6am.

Cheshire Police received 999 calls from residents in Cheadle Hulme, several miles away, complaining of loud music into the early hours.

Officers first attended the field near Dairy House Lane in Woodford at around 1.30am on Saturday – with the group finally dispersing as officers turned up again at 5.50am.

One angry resident said the ‘illegal rave’ had ‘kept most of Cheadle Hulme and Woodford awake all night.’ Another claimed the road was eventually blocked off by police to prevent any more people attending. There were no reports of any trouble and no arrests were made, police said.

Residents living in the surrounding area voiced concerns on a community Facebook page, with others turning to Twitter to vent their frustration.

One resident said: “It seemed to start at about 1am. It was just really loud music with a DJ all night. I had to put earplugs in at 4am.”

Cheshire Police confirmed officers were called to the scene twice after complaints from residents of loud music.

A force spokesman said: “Officers from Cheshire Police, alongside officers from GMP, attended the scene and asked them to keep the noise down.”
