THE Stockport Business Awards 2016 shortlist is out and it’s time to find out a little bit more about the nominees.

The awards, organised by local accountancy practice Clarke Nicklin, are now celebrating their fifth year and shortlisted in the popular ‘Business of the Year (turnover up to £1m)’ category are; Distology, Platform 81 and Trust.

This category is sponsored by Orbit Developments, who have been a headline sponsor of the awards since they began in 2012.

Distology is an IT Security distributor based in Regent House, the business has grown from two to nine people within a year, and turnover has increased six-fold in the same time. Distology works by running technical due diligence on new and existing software to the UK, in order to promote them to the reseller base, who then sells it on to their end user clients.

Distology’s expertise, experience and knowledge in the IT Security industry enables them to work with some of the world’s leading companies in the field.

Platform 81 is a dynamic digital marketing and design agency working with high-growth businesses from its head office in Stockport. Led by three directors – Alec Middleton, Gary Mawhinney and Nick Wroe – it also has an office in Bromsgrove and currently employs 15 staff.

The company prides itself on a flexible and personal approach to the delivery of bespoke digital marketing strategies.

Trust is a design agency that builds brands based on values. They get to know a business, its customers, its employees and its values in order to bring a brand to life, whether that’s through traditional print or cutting edge digital.

They offer a wide range of services including branding, digital, photography and copywriting for clients ranging from local businesses such as Hallidays and Marketing Stockport, to global businesses such as Pioneer DJ.

They work hard to maintain their existing 100 per cent levels of customer satisfaction whilst engaging with impressive new clients too, a recent win being a Londonbased contract worth in excess of £100k.

The winner will be announced at the ceremony which takes place on October 13 at Stockport Town Hall.

The Stockport Business Awards is an event set up for businesses by businesses. It is organised by accountancy practice Clarke Nicklin, and headline sponsors are high profile businesses from the region; Gorvins Solicitors, Orbit Developments and NatWest.
