Golfer will get waxed to raise cash for The Christie
A GOLFER is set to lose a considerable amount of hair to help raise funds for a cancer charity.
Scott Beale, 44, is having his chest waxed and his head shaved in aid of The Christie.
His daring challenge will take place from 4pm on Saturday, August 6 at Houldsworth Golf Club in Reddish.
Later that night, the club will host a captain’s fun day, which will also raise money for The Christie, the club’s chosen charity for the year.
The event, which begins at 7.30pm, will feature a disco, karaoke and raffle.
It is open to everyone, regardless of whether or not they are a member of the club.
The charity is particularly close to Scott’s heart, as he has lost several friends and family members to cancer.
His mum, Nora Beale has also battled lung cancer, but is fortunately now in remission from the disease.
Scott said: “Unfortunately, like a lot of people, cancer has affected not only club members but my own personal life. I have lost three friends and my mother is in remission with lung cancer, so I do as much as I can for cancer charities.
“I’m not nervous about the waxing yet, but I do have a few weeks left to go!”
Raffle prizes include a signed Manchester United football, which has been donated by the Manchester United Foundation.
Scott has already raised more than £300 for the charity, and has set a target of £1,000.
Entrance to the fun day is free of charge, but donations to The Christie are welcome.
