Reddish Vale School Farm celebrates three decades of fun and learning

-

REDDISH Vale High School Farm celebrated its 30th anniversary with a party for the community.

The farm, which was first set up in July 1986, marked the milestone with an event which featured three sold-out Animal Magic shows, raffles, tombolas and a variety of stalls, as well as the farm shop.

Organisations including Re:Dish, Reddish Youth Club and MAP (Make a Pathway) were also involved with organising the day, running a bouncy castle and games, as well as baking cakes and cookies to sell.

Farm manager Caroline Hulme also collated a collection of farm photos from over the years.

The farm welcomed the mayor, Councillor Chris Gordon and mayoress, Dr Margaret Gordon, as well as MP Andrew Gwynne, Reddish Councillor Kate Butler and school headteacher Colin Short.

There was also a range of pupils and staff from the past and present, including some who set up the farm in 1986, as well as a huge turnout from the Reddish community.

A cake was provided by Stockport bakery Sugarbeam, while other local businesses donated a variety of raffle prizes.

The event was hailed a huge success, and raised more than £630 to help towards the running costs of the farm.

Caroline said: “It was a fantastic event which was very well attended. It was lovely to see the local community coming together to celebrate 30 years of the school farm.

“The RVHS pupils and the young people from MAP and Re:Dish youth club have worked hard in planning and organising the event and it was a great reward for them to see so many people there.

“The farm is such an important part of Reddish Vale High School and I would like to thank all who donated, supported and attended the event”.
