STOCKPORT County’s pre-season campaign continued with them picking up an emphatic victory at Edgeley Park on Saturday after they brushed aside Blackburn Rovers U21.

Goals from John Marsden, Danny Lloyd, Josh Amis and trialist Craig Carney helped the Hatters run out comfortabl­e winners in front of their home supporters.

Their breakthrou­gh came on the half-hour mark when Mark Ross’ long ball was headed on by Kayode Odejayi, into the path of Marsden, who did the rest by rounding a defender and firing home from close range to make it 1-0.

The Hatters still had to be alert at the other end, with Joe RankinCost­ello going close for Blackburn when he fired an effort over the crossbar.

County managed to double their lead just before the interval though when the home side were awarded a penalty.

Lloyd was brought down in the box by Connor Thomson, and he dusted himself off and converted the spot-kick himself to make it 2-0 to Stockport at half-time.
