STOCKPORT Band Blossoms look to be on the verge of making it big, but it was seven years ago that lead singer Tom Ogden made his debut on Pure 107.8FM

This looks like being a big year for Blossoms they released their debut album this week and are celebrating on Friday night (August 5) with a homecoming gig at the Stockport Plaza.

The band has been on tour on the other side of the world supporting Jake Bugg. Last week they played four shows in Australia, and Stockport’s Drive Home presenter Paul Holloway caught up with singer Tom on the phone from Korea.

He told Paul that he’s living the dream: “We’re seeing the world with our mates and playing the music we like so it is everything we wanted,’” he explained.

Talking off their homecoming show this Friday, which starts at midnight - this being the exact minute the album is released - Tom said: “It’s a dream come true. We’re going to play the album in track order, so the first time fans can hear the album is us playing it live.

“It’s nice that we could do it in our home town at such a cool venue as Stockport Plaza.”

It’s another special moment in an amazing year for the band, who also appeared at Glastonbury earlier in the summer; somethimg that Tom unsurprisingly described that as a “special moment”.

It’s a long way from Tom’s debut on Pure Radio in 2009, when as a 16-year-old member of Save the Mastersound he took part in the radio station’s Stockport’s Finest competition.

In fact, Blossoms now have their own tribute beer brewed by Robinsons and named after their current single ‘Charlemagne.’
