Nursery’s new playground and outstanding inspection
IF you go down to the new playground at Valley School Nursery you’re in for a big surprise.
A teddy bear’s picnic was held to celebrate the opening of the new playground.
Work was completed during half term but staff, children and parents were joined by special guests the Mayor and Mayoress of Stockport to officially open the new facility.
The site now boasts a large canopy, artificial grass, mud kitchen, sandpit and new playground markings.
Headteacher Debbie Thompson said: “The new playground provides an opportunity for children of all abilities to play together, in a safe and stimulating space.
“It helps the children to engage, to have fun and the new canopy provides a quiet, sensory space when the children need calm.”
It was a double celebration for the nursery after they were recently awarded their third outstanding rating by Ofsted in a row.
Inspectors praised the leadership team for their “highest ambitions” for every pupil and their “relentless pursuit to improve every day”.
They said senior staff had an “encyclopaedic knowledge” of the strengths and weaknesses of the school and they had successfully addressed the areas of improvement identified during the last inspection.
The report said: “The school is a purposeful, calm and happy place.
“Learning in each and every classroom is celebrated at every opportunity.
“Smiles are contagious as learning is enjoyed by everyone, including adults who show a great deal of pride when pupils make the smallest steps in their progress.
“As a result pupils flourish from the moment they enter school, making outstanding progress in all areas of the curriculum.”
