Woman and man in bids to snatch boys
TWO young boys have been grabbed in separate attempted abductions in south Manchester – including one in Stockport.
On Saturday afternoon (July 30), a sixyear-old boy managed to escape after a man tried to drag him inside a van in Reddish.
Three young children had been out playing when they were approached by a man in a white van on Brooklands Road.
It is understood he tried to grab one of the friends – a six-year-old boy – by the arm, telling him to get in the vehicle and ‘help with his deliveries’.
The boy managed to free himself from the man’s grip and all three got away.
A GMP spokesman said: “At around 2.50pm on July 30, police received a report that three children had been approached by a man driving a white van on Brooklands Road, Reddish.
“The man tried to pull one of the children into the vehicle but they were able to get away.
“He was described as black or Asian, with black hair, wearing blue top with a hi-vis vest over the top.”
On Monday (August 1), an eight-year-old was targeted by a woman who tried to convince him there were puppies in her car.
The victim was playing hide and seek with his friends in Chorlton Water Park, near Maitland Avenue, at around 5.45pm when a woman in the rear of a grey Toyota 4x4-type car, with tinted windows, side-steps and a spare wheel on the rear, shouted for him to come over.
She asked him if he wanted to see any puppies when he went towards the vehicle, but then grabbed his top and attempted to drag him inside.
The boy was able to fight the woman off, with the assistance of his friends, before running off.
There were two men in the front of the vehicle, both described as white and one speaking on a phone.
The woman described as was white, wearing a bobble hat and sunglasses.
