JONATHAN BILLINGS

- Project manager at The Wellspring

AS the new football season has just started we are delighted at The Wellspring with the support we receive from our local football team Stockport County.

Not only do we receive lots of support from the Stockport County Fans Cooperative who have been doing fundraising events and having collections of practical items that we can then give to people who are sleeping rough, but we also receive support directly from the club themselves.

This season we are delighted to have The Wellspring name on the back of the official away shirt as well as advertising ●●Jonathan Billings for The Wellspring around Edgeley Park.

We are also delighted that we can offer our members the opportunity to attend Stockport County homes games, thanks to the generosity of superfan John Fidler who lives in Los Angeles.

The Vernon Jubilee fund launches this week, we would really appreciate you giving your tokens to The Wellspring, these will help us to employ a formerly homeless person and give them a real opportunity to change their life for the better.

We don’t want to be sustaining anybody, we want people to develop, move on and become independent and contribute to society.

Vernon Jubilee tokens can be dropped off at The Wellspring any day or sent in the post to The Wellspring PO BOX 456 Stockport SK11WZ.

We are looking for local people to help us collect as many tokens as we can, the more tokens we can collect then the more funding we will receive from the Jubilee fund.

The Wellspring is currently going through a period of transition and change as we are working on a five year business plan that aims to improve the services we offer to homeless and disadvantaged people and to expand our reach in to the community of Stockport.

Services should not just be offering the same old thing over and over again, but they should be looking for ways to be innovative, to think outside the box and find ways to help more people back on their feet so once again they can contribute to our community and society.
