The 25-year-old victim was discovered bleeding by a passer-by on Henry Street, Offerton.

It is believed he had been stabbed with a kitchen knife a short time earlier at his home at Victoria Park and staggered outside for help.

A 42-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder near where the man was found.

AWOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was found in the street stabbed in the chest, leg and buttock.

The 25-year-old victim was discovered bleeding by a passer-by on Henry Street, Offerton, on Saturday at 8pm.

It is believed that he had been stabbed with a kitchen knife a short time earlier at his home at Victoria Park and staggered outside for help.

It is the second attempted murder investigation launched in Stockport in just over a week.

An ambulance was called and took the man to hospital with a punctured lung and cut to his liver.

Paramedics called police who searched the area and arrested a 42-year-old woman on suspicion of attempted murder near where the man was found. She has since been bailed pending further enquiries until October 31.

The man was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary where his condition is said to be stable.

A police spokesman said: “It is believed the man was stabbed three times inside a flat at Victoria Park and went outside to look for help.

“He was found on the street by a passerby who rang an ambulance.”

As reported by the Stockport Express last week police launched an attempted murder investigation after a man was attacked at his home with a hammer.

The 21-year-old was hit on the head and the arm on Hall Meadow, Cheadle Hulme, on September 1 some time between 6pm and 7pm.

Violence also flared in Cheadle Hulme at the weekend when a man was hit in the face with a bottle.

The 29-year-old was attacked on Station Road, near Pizza La Vita, on Sunday at 12.30am, although the incident had nothing to do with the takeaway.

After the attack he managed to get into the Kings Hall pub, where staff phoned for an ambulance. He was treated in Wythenshawe Hospital for cuts to his face and has not been able to give a description of his attacker.

Police have appealed for witnesses.

A spokesman said: “This seems to be an unprovoked and violent attack, where the victim is not sure exactly what happened.”

Anyone with information as asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
