Our town really does know how to stage great events
STOCKPORT knows how to put on a great event! I think that has been proven lately more than ever, with the success of the Fringe Festival in the Old Town over the bank holiday weekend and more recently this year’s Big Stockport Run which took place a couple of weekends ago.
The 10k race and 1k family fun run around the streets of Stockport saw a record turnout and a great day was had by all, whether you were a fun runner, a serious competitor or a spectator cheering them along. I’m also sure lots of money was raised along the way for local great causes.
This week is Stockport Beer Week, a fantastic event which has returned to Stockport for the second year running in support of our finest local pubs and breweries. The festivities started at the weekend with a fantastic beer festival at Robinsons Brewery, which was a big hit for the town.
There are all sorts of events going on so I encourage you to visit ssmcamra.co.uk and check out the beery delights of Stockport over the next few days.
And of course in two weeks’ time it is the fifth annual Stockport Business Awards. Clarke Nicklin set up the awards back in 2012 but even we couldn’t have dreamed about what a success they’d become.
It is now easily the biggest night in the Stockport business calendar and I’m looking forward to the event at the town hall, along with 400 other of Stockport’s finest. Very best of luck to all of the nominees.
