THIS adorable oneyear-old pug was dumped on the side of the road with its back legs paralysed and unable to move.

The tiny dog was found whimpering in Stockport last year and the injury was so severe many thought he wouldn’t survive.

Now 12 months later, Dodger has made a miraculous recovery and is able to walk again, thanks to the help of pug dedicated charity, MuffinPug Rescue.

The organisation helps save pugs who are severely mistreated, used as bait for fighting dogs, or are used purely for breeding.

To mark a year since Dodger’s recovery, a walk is being held in Heaton Park where up to 50 pugs are expected to turn out in support of the animal charity.

The event’s organiser Kirstie Beasley, from Chorlton, said it was to take a stand against all mistreatment of pugs.

She said: “It’s awful what goes on. Many pugs are used purely to breed and have prolapses, others are used as bait for fighting. And many others are purely abandoned.

“It’s really sad. Dodger was found and we don’t really know why he was dumped there.”

In the two years since the Northwich-based charity was set up, more than 120 dogs have been rescued. take part and cash raised will then go to the charity to help more pugs in need.

Kirstie said: “We are estimating between 300-500 pugs will take part in the walk all over the country.

“Rescue dogs will wear spotted bandanas and others will wear plain ones.

“We want it to be a real celebration of pugs but also raise awareness of the horrific conditions that some are forced to live in. We want to continue to help as many animals as we can.”

Dodger is now in long term foster care.
