Art centre to host new arts and creative workshop programme

-

AN award winning Reddish based arts organisation has launched a new programme of arts and creative workshops. ARC Centre, which was formerly known as Arc Community Gallery, is opening up its sessions to the public for the first time.

The workshops, which run from September to December, range from ceramics to textiles, drawing and photography as well as training for creative businesspeople.

The programme offers opportunities for attendees to socialise, develop creative skills, extend professional development or get inspired by working artists to explore new techniques.

Arc is a charity that previously only offered arts programmes to those experiencing mental health issues at the arts centre, based on Greg Street in Reddish where the sessions are run.

For the first time, the community centre has opened up a paid-for arts programme to absolutely anyone who wants to learn new skills.

The funds raised from offering private courses will all go towards its community charity work.

Lucie Fitzpatrick, who leads Arc’s marketing and social media, said: “We wanted to offer very high quality but affordable arts, social events and training, right on the doorsteps of Stockport residents, so that absolutely everyone has the chance to develop their wellbeing by doing something creative, socialising and connecting with other people in their community.”

Arc Centre has two light-filled arts studios, including a ceramics studio, two kilns and a gallery area with seating that is open during the week to the public.

The centre was given a full refurbishment over the summer.

Arc also organises and curates art exhibitions, facilitates arts projects across Greater Manchester and Cheshire, as well as offering art clubs and creative sessions for children on the last Saturday of every month.

For 20 years, Arc has delivered high profile public art projects and exhibitions across the borough, assisting people to manage their mental health and increase their wellbeing.
