TOTALLY Motorsport’s Junior Academy driver Kyle Hornby, from Stockport, experienced some success in his Ryley Wealth Management JHR Motorsport Ginetta Junior at Silverstone.

Practice on Thursday and Friday went well, Hornby happy with his car and set up apart from a lack of pace from his engine meaning slipstreaming was difficult.

Qualifying was average due to the engine problem, Hornby managing twelfth place on the twenty-car grid.

Hornby made a trademark good start in Race One on the Saturday and immediately moved up the field to end up ninth.

Finishing position in Race One placed him ninth on the grid for Race Two around the famous Grand Prix host’s ‘National’ circuit.

Another good start saw Hornby catapult to seventh and eventually taking one more place to finish sixth at the flag, along with second fastest lap of the Race.

On Sunday with Hornby sixth on the grid, hoping for a podium finish, he made a good start and held sixth for most of the Race, along with the leading bunch. Contact with the thirty-three car of Daniel Harper sent him wide and dropped to eighth. While an incident at Luffield caused a brief Safety Car period, a second caused the Race to be Red-flagged and was not restarted.

Hornby finished eighth at the flag but with several drivers summoned before the stewards after the Race, as appeals being submitted by several teams and drivers, there was the possibility he may be promoted to sixth place.
