Cooperative helping the homeless
MINDFUL that the hours of darkness are descending upon us ever earlier with the every passing day, and with the weather moving from not very good to very decidedly iffy, the Stockport County Supporters Cooperative has sprung into action in support of the homeless of Stockport.
Experience has shown us that the very best way to do this is to get behind and support the Wellspring – the magnificent Stockport charity that does so much for the homeless of our great town.
With this in mind we are calling on members, and other County supporters to make donations of food (tinned foods, tea, sugar, coffee etc) toiletries (shampoo, soap, disposable razors etc) and of course warm clothing items.
With winter approaching rapidly the needs of Stockport’s homeless become ever more urgent and we ask for donations to be left before County’s next two Saturday home matches against Salford City (between 1.15 and 2.30) at the Cabin in the Cheadle End Car Park.
We have always had a magnificent response from previous appeals, and we thank you in advance for your anticipated help and support.
The Cheadle End Cabin is proving a great boon as a point of contact twixt supporters and ourselves, and last Saturdays home game against Hyde United, allowed us to conclude the raffle for a rather excellent signed framed County shirt from season 2004/5.
The shirt, which contained the signatures of Ashley Williams (now plying his trade in the Premier League and International arena so successfully) and Joe Corrigan who was County Goalkeeping Coach at the time, was won by Steve Goodwin from New Mills.
The Guardian Account has been well supported via the Cabin, where supporters have rallied round brilliantly both donating shirts and buying shirts from us, with the GA the beneficiary. We are still taking donations of memorabilia and selling same ( 1.15 to 2.30 pre Saturday match days) so please keep the memorabilia coming!
The Supporters Cooperative was happy to join Help the Hatters, this week, in confirming continued support for the Players Fund.
Help the Hatters do sterling work organising and managing the Players Fund , and when they are not putting the pods out at Edgeley Park, they can be found, from 1 o’clock before every home match in the Bungalow where buying a pint clocks up a donation of 50p to the PF.
Its thirsty work being a County fan, so pre match the Bungalow is the place to go to support the Players Fund, whilst after the game those County supporters wishing to support the Guardian Account should head off to the Spinning Top ( near the Garrick Theatre) where from 5 until 8pm every pint drunk attracts a substantial donation to the GA.
Finally…last week we gave details of the last meeting between Stockport County Board and the Supporters Cooperative, and we can now confirm that the next one is on 27 October. Members wishing to submit questions for same, should do so to info@countysupporters coop.co.uk for 19 October.
