Health club is in the running to win National Fitness Award
A CHEADLE Heath sports facility is in the running to win a National Fitness Award.
Life Leisure’s Avondale Health Hub has been shortlisted in the Best Rehabilitation Facility of the Year category
The national awards, which cover the entire health and leisure industry, are seen by many as ‘The Oscars’ of the UK fitness industry.
Shortlisted finalists are visited and assessed by members of the judging team who will take a look around the facilities and chat to members and staff before compiling a comprehensive report.
Avondale Health Hub was developed to help inactive people, those with medical conditions and those recovering from illness or injury to increase their activity levels.
Boasting a mirror-free gym and enclosed workout areas for increased privacy, as well as high-tech equipment such as an anti-gravity Alter G treadmill, the centre has proved incredibly popular in the local community.
The rehabilitation facilities have also attracted top athletes, including Stockport local and Team GB Olympic distance runner Ross Millington, who uses the executive officer at Life Leisure, said: “The National Fitness Awards are a highlight of the UK sports industry calendar. To have reached the shortlist for two different facilities is a real testament to the work our staff have put into making these centres so welcoming and community-focused.”
Judith Halkerston, National Fitness Awards’ director, added: “The quality and quantity of National Fitness Awards’ entries just keep improving year on year. The team is really looking forward to visiting all our shortlisted clubs and seeing some of the great work that is going on in the fitness industry on a daily basis.”
The National Fitness Awards will be taking place on Friday, December 2 at The Athena in Leicester, and will be hosted by boxing world champion Ricky Hatton and award winning personal trainer and star of The Apprentice Katie Bulmer-Cooke.
