TWO pranksters who blagged their way onto a float at the Olympic parade say they ‘just did it for a laugh.’

Jamie Rawsthorne, from Stockport, and his pal Zac Alsop, both 21, made national headlines when they were discovered celebrating with members of Team GB on the streets of the city centre on Monday.

The pair bought the Team GB tracksuits for £50 each and donned fake medals to trick their way past security.

They then blagged a place on a float which saw them parade past 100,000 people.

They were even interviewed on Sky News although they were rumbled by the interviewer - and later rubbed shoulders with US pop star Will.I.Am.

Aspiring businessman Jamie said the athletes on the float couldn’t stop laughing after they sussed the pair were fakes.

The 21-year-old said: “We thought we might step on some toes. And it’s not something I’d actively encourage others to do.

“But we don’t take ourselves too seriously and only ever did for a laugh. And we were respectful to the athletes.

“When they found us out we were ready to get off but they just found it funny and told us to stay for a bit.”

The pair are serial blaggers, having once got on stage with grime star Skepta at the Warehouse Project by wearing ear-pieces and carrying fire extinguishers.

They have also used a camera and dressed in hivis jackets to get backstage with The Four Owls at Tokyo World Festival in Bristol.

The pair now plan to release their own video, made my videographer Zac, chronicling their Olympic stunt.
