SEVEN MILES OUT

WE’RE celebrating Halloween in scary style this week, starting with our special Creepy Cryptic Quiz on Thursday evening hosted by quizmaster Paul Jardine.

This quiz is a great opportunity to get together with friends and work colleagues for a drink and test your general knowledge. Paul has put together seven rounds of terrifying trivia to batter the brain cells and there will be some great Halloween-themed music too!

We’ve got some amazing prizes up for grabs this month, including a Sunday roast dinner for two at The Allotment Vegan restaurant in the Old Town which has been getting rave reviews, two tickets for the next hilarious A Laugh in Stockport Comedy Night at Seven Miles Out and a lovely gift box of three speciality brews from Whaley Bridge Brewery.

Entry to the quiz costs just £1 and teams can be up to four people. Join us this Thursday from 7.30pm for some fiendish fun.

The last Friday of the month can only mean one thing – it’s Foodie Friday in Stockport Market Place from 6pm. Following our fantastic award for ‘Best Pop Up Event’ from the Manchester Food and Drink Festival, we have got a spooktacular Halloween event lined up for our Stockport community.

Outside in the Market Place, there will be up to 20 of our street food traders bringing you delicious dishes from around the world, with all our speciality food and drink offers from the market traders in the Market Hall.

You can bring your pumpkin to be judged in the Great Pumpkin Carving Competition, all ages welcome, and you might just win a prize. Feel free to dress up in the spirit of the occasion and there’s also an opportunity for children to get their faces painted.

Our live entertainment in the Market Hall includes up-and-coming melodic acoustic duo The Coulton Brothers from the Lake District who have appeared at Kendal Calling festival and Manchester Academy, as well as played support to Scottish rock band Idlewild and indie favourites The Pigeon Detectives.

The Stockport Ukulele Players will be dressing up in Halloween costume to become The Spukulele Players and we’ll also have a great rhythm and blues set from Dr Uke, fresh from their storming performance at Robinsons Beer Festival.

In Seven Miles Out we have a whole evening of live music including all the Foodie Friday performers and lots more from 6pm until late into the evening. If you want to beat the food queues, we have our own tantalising street food offer from ArtiSam who will be set up in Angel Yard which can be accessed through the arts centre.
