ONCE again Stockport’s radio station Pure 107.8FM is on a quest to find the best musical talent in the borough. Stockport’s Finest is back again for 2016 as presenter Paul Holloway explains.

If you’re in a band or you’re a singer / songwriter and you think you’ve got what it takes to be crowned the best up and coming artist in Stockport. We want to hear from you.

It’s the seventh year we’ve run the competition. Here is the role of honour of our winners so far: 2015: The Hayes Sisters 2014: Neil McCluskey 2013: Mohawk Radio 2012: The Majestix 2011: Lemon Soul 2010: The Harks

Folk siblings The Hayes Sisters’ debut album ‘Another Man’s Shoes’ was produced by legendary singersongwriter Clive Gregson.

But there is also an impressive list of musicians who have entered the competition but didn’t win.

Blossoms front man Tom Ogden entered with his previous band ‘Save The Mastersound’. He got his very first radio play right here; as did his band mate Josh Dewhurst with his old band ‘The Moors’.

Marple band ‘The Dutch Uncles’ entered the first edition of Stockport’s Finest. They have gone on to release four highly-acclaimed albums.

And back in 2013 a 14-year-old Rory Wynne entered. He has since supported Blossoms and popped up on ‘Cold Feet’ performing one of his own songs a couple of weeks ago.

To get involved in Stockport’s Finest 2016 just email us an MP3 of your best song to finest@pureradio.org.uk by Thursday, October 27.

In the next few weeks, the best acts will go head-to-head, to see who comes out on top.
