Hazel Grove’s in the market for bargains with parent power

-

PARENTS picked up some top bargains when they flocked to the Mum2mummarket event at Hazel Grove High School.

More than 200 people turned up to buy items such as toys and clothes from the sale which specialised in good-asnew items for children aged up to six-years-old.

Organiser Ann Parry said: “It was a very successful sale and customers were having to make several trips to their cars and then return to stock up on further bargains.

“Money goes so much further when shopping at our markets, especially when people are planning for a new baby.

“Babies often don’t wear a set of clothes for long as they grow so quickly, so the items mums bring to sell are quality, good-as-new items when they reach our markets.”

The next Mum2mummarket will be held on Sunday, November 20 at the school on Jacksons Lane, Hazel Grove from 2.30pm to 4.30pm in the main hall.

The market is getting booked up quite quickly – if parents would like to sell items their little ones have grown out they can do so via the website which is at www. mum2mummarket.co.uk or e-mail Ann at Ann@ mum2mummarket.co.uk

Mum2mumarket is the brainchild of Cath Harrop who began the initiative in 2011.

The idea is for parents to buy good-as-new items on a face-to-face basis from other parents.

The scheme previously won the backing from business guru Deborah Meaden on BBC Two’s entrepreneurial show Dragon’s Den.

Mrs Meaden herself is well-known as a business guru, having run her family’s multi-million pound family holiday business, a caravan park, before completing a management buyout.

She joined the show in its third season, in 2006 having taken over from Rachel Einaugh, making her at the time, the only female ‘Dragon’ on the show.

Her other TV work includes a stint on BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2013 when she was partnered with professional dancer Robin Windsor surviving until the fifth week before being eliminated from the competition.
