FRIENDS and family of an ‘amazing’ mum who fought cancer raised £11,000 in her memory in just 48 hours.

Dawn Shepherd passed away on Thursday, November 3 just a few weeks after moving into the home of her dreams with her two sons, partner Jason and his two sons.

The 30-year-old from Cheadle was diagnosed with ovarian cancer for the second time in August, having beaten the disease five years earlier.

But Dawn was rushed to hospital during the summer after she began having excruciating pains in her leg and back.

Doctors found at first she had a collapsed lung, but tests and scans later showed the cancer had returned.

Her family say Dawn remained upbeat and positive through gruelling chemotherapy. She battled to continue running her beauty salon business and as well as being mum to Cameron, nine, and Lewis, 11, but treatment took its toll.

Just days after Dawn’s death, Cameron continued to make his grieving family proud by acting as captain in a junior football match.

The game had been due to be postponed because of the tragedy - but brave Cameron begged for the game to be played as planned.

Three minutes into the game he scored – pointing to the sky in memory of his mum as he celebrated.

His brother Lewis, who is a keen singer, also bravely took part in a school performance days before Dawn passed away so he could make his mum proud.

The Dawn Shepherd Foundation was set up by Jason’s sister, Hollie Reynolds, 31, for her children as a ‘nest egg’ for their future.

So far the fund stands at £11,700.

Hollie wrote on the online page describing Dawn as a ‘beautiful princess’, who was loved by so many.

She said: “Dawn was an amazing mum, daughter, sister, girlfriend and friend who was loved by so many and known by everyone for her beautiful smiley face.

“Dawn was incredibly brave and strong and we are all so proud of her and that strength has obviously passed on to her boys in which they will carry their mum in everything they do and everywhere they go.

“We will love and miss her every day for the rest of our lives.”
