Mum’s appeal to help find family rings

-

A WOMAN is appealing to find some treasured family heirlooms which were given away to charity by mistake.

Deborah Ewan put a cream pouch containing her late mother in law’s rings in a coat pocket for safe keeping, while she went away on holiday earlier this year.

Unfortunately, she forgot all about it, and six weeks ago, placed the red size 12 Topshop coat in a charity shop bag, along with a number of other items, including a child’s bridesmaid dress.

Deborah can’t remember the name of the charity, but the bag, which was red and white, was collected from outside her Heaton Moor home.

Now she is desperate to find the rings, as her mother in law Heather Ewen had asked for them to be passed down to her grandchildren before she passed away six years ago.

Deborah is offering a reward to anyone who hands the rings in to the police.

The rings include Heather’s diamond engagement ring, sapphire and diamond eternity ring and another diamond ring missing a stone.

The jewellery was in a small cream purse with gold press studs that allowed it to be attached to a larger jewellery purse.

Deborah said: “I am deeply saddened by my stupidity to try and keep them safe in a coat pocket, but hope a good citizen will pass them to the police so I can reclaim them.

“These rings are of great sentimental value.

“My mother in law got engaged in 1955 using the lost ring and she knew her grandchildren would have been getting engaged in the future and wanted me to pass on her engagement ring and the other smaller diamond ring so they could have them for their engagements.

“I hope someone will appreciate the sentimental value outweighs the replacement of them as they can not be replaced.

“I am happy to give a reward for their return.”
