Woman who killed partner is jailed for life
AWOMAN who murdered her partner in the street has been jailed for life. Lisa Withers has been told she must service a minimum of 26 years for stabbing 45-year-old Jason Capper to death outside the home they shared on Ash Street, Cheadle Heath.

Lisa Withers has been told she must serve a minimum 26 years for knifing 45-year-old courier Jason Capper to death outside the home they shared at Ash Street, Cheadle Heath.
This means the mother-of-three will be 75 at the point the authorities think about releasing her.
Withers told her Manchester Crown Court trial that Mr Capper, who had four children before he got together with her, had subjected her to months of degrading abuse before she stabbed him and goaded him as he lay dying in the street.
Moments before she was sentenced, Mr Capper’s sister, Shirley Graham, told Withers the effect her crime - and the subsequent allegations - had had upon his grieving family.
After taking to the front of court to read a victim impact statement, Shirley Graham looked directly at Withers sitting emotionless in the dock.
“You are the lucky one, you will still get to see your parents, children and grandchildren, we are the ones with a life sentence”, Ms Graham said. “Your poison and attempts to destroy Jason’s character hurt the family as much as your knife.”
On October 24 last year, the day before her 48th birthday, Lisa Withers complained to her son Christopher that she thought she was going to have a s*** birthday. The 30-year-old went round to see if she was alright, but after finding his mother and her partner arguing at the doorstep, ended up scuffling with Mr Capper.
Lisa Withers then came up and stabbed Mr Capper in the back, before knifing him several more times as he backed away from her. He staggered down the street before collapsing and bleeding at a neighbour’s doorstep.
Her son Christopher called 999 - and warned her Mr Capper would die without help. Lisa Withers answered ‘let him die.’
Sentencing, Judge Patrick Field QC told Withers: “You launched a vicious and relentless assault upon Jason with the knife. You pursued him remorselessly as he retreated, posing no threat to you or anyone else.
“As he lay there prostrate you insulted him and derided him, struck him with a cloth and treated him with contempt.
“You were heard to say ‘I hope you die.’
“These comments, taken together with other things you said that night, are clear indicators of your intent.”
