Join hands for festive fundraiser

- JONATHAN BILLINGS Project manager at The Wellspring

THE Wellspring has a brilliant Christmas fundraising event coming up courtesy of Virgin Trains’ Lets Join Hands 2016 Appeal.

The event is a Christmas disco and raffle at Holdsworth Working Mens Club, Leamington Road, Reddish on Friday, December 9 2016 from 7pm.

Tickets are £10 and are available from The Wellspring. Please come along and support this brilliant live music fundraising event.

With Christmas just around the corner we are making plans for several Christmas meals that will be served to homeless and disadvantaged people at The Wellspring.

We are of course open every day over Christmas, I’m not aware of many other services that are.

If you don’t have any plans for Christmas day or if you are going to be on your own please consider coming to spend some of the day at The Wellspring, the project will be open from 10am to 2pm.

Anyone can come along to The Wellspring, we are open to anyone who feels that we can help them in any way that we can. Please don’t be alone this Christmas time.

Our Christmas dinner campaign is going well and has already broken our expected target.

For every donation of £5 that we get The Wellspring will provide someone in need with a Christmas dinner and a gift.

The funds received also ensure that The Wellspring is able to be open and carry on providing people in need in Stockport with essential services 365 days a year.

To donate £5 please text XMSD16£5 to 70070, this will donate £5 to The Wellspring. Each text will cost £5 plus your standard message rate.

Donations can also be made online at thewellspring.co.uk or follow the links on our Facebook page.

In the last week we have been devastated to hear that one of our members, a young lady who had been sleeping rough for some considerable time in Stockport, took her own life while sleeping rough in one of the Stockport parks.

We are very saddened by this tragic loss and it has been tough on the staff team at The Wellspring to pick ourselves back up and carry on providing essential support to so many others.

With so many people affected by poor mental health and poor lifestyles we never know when it’s going to be the last time that we see or speak to any of our members.

RIP Lindsey.
