CHAD’S THEATRE

●●Kidnapped at Christmas TWO criminals share a cell in a local prison. As the festive season approaches, the prisoners become determined to escape – anything would be better than being stuck in the theatre with the audience, who appear to be ‘a bunch of rascals and villains’.

To secure their freedom, they plan to kidnap Alexander, the son of the local detective constable. They also appear to have kidnapped ‘little Kevin’, the son of another local policeman.

The escaped convicts are driven to various tricks and disguises. They encounter, among others, a local headmaster (who seems to have an uncanny resemblance to Frankenstein’s monster).

Much of the comedy comes from the way the author treats the audience as part of the plot and is constantly subverting the usual conventions of the theatre – certainly one not to be missed!

Our Christmas productions are extremely popular and tickets sell quickly!

Group bookings are encouraged and especially welcome from Brownies, Scouts and schools etc.

You can book online for FREE at www.chads.co.uk/book-online or call the Box Office on 0333 666 3366 (telephone bookings are subject to a £1.50 transaction fee per booking, online bookings are completely FREE). Di Lawson

SEVEN MILES OUT

FOODIE Friday comes but only once a month but we sure like to make the most of it here in Stockport Old Town.

November’s event this Friday sees the Christmas tree lights switch-on in Stockport Market Place so we hope you will join us with friends and family to herald the start of the festive season.

We are delighted that the very talented young local band Square One will be doing the honours, switching on the lights at 7pm along with our special guest Ted Doan, manager of the very wonderful Stockport Plaza Super Cinema and Variety Theatre! With a bit of luck Ted will be dressed in panto costume (Oh no he isn’t! Oh yes he is! etc etc) to promote this year’s Plaza pantomime Peter Pan starring John Altman as ‘Nasty’ Captain Hook.

Foodie Friday in Stockport Market Place will feature 14 of the best street food traders from all over the North West and these are Que Delicia, The Dutch Fishmen, Somtam Street, I Knead Pizza, Big D’s BBQ, Dim Sum Su, Tapas Altrincham, Wallace & Sons, Wrapscallion, Pizza Peddlers, Choccy Churros, Lekker Dutch and Azulito Coffee, with a big welcome to new trader this month Hungry Little Critters selling delicious Caribbean food.

There’s also all the usual choice from the regular indoor market traders including The Candy Shack and The Ice Shack, Oak Tree Cafe, Charlie’s Cheese, Bottle and The Optics Bar. Music in the Market Hall this month will be provided by some great local bands - Ceva, The Crukes, Square One and the return of Foodie Friday favourite Blank Cheque.

In Seven Miles Out we have live music from 6.30pm to keep you entertained all night long starting with Kevin ‘Leftie’ Farrell, a brilliant singer-songwriter, Candy Cactus, another talented young band from the Heatons and three-piece Sexton who have come all the way from France to perform their pop-rock in Seven Miles Out.

We’ll also have second sets from Ceva, The Crukes and Blank Cheque so it’s going to be an excellent night of music to get you into the pre-Christmas spirit.

We hope you can join us with your friends and family for Stockport’s best night out.
