Park pals help to clean up

-

THE FRIENDS of Marple Memorial Park have had a busy time over the last few weeks keeping the park clean and tidy.

The group held a Task Day in the run-up to Remembrance Sunday to ensure it was looking its best on the day.

The group also carried out work on the Jubilee, the infants play area, toilets and the flowerbeds.

Park visitors left more than £25 in the group’s donation bucket which members said was an excellent result particularly since the weather had been quite wet on the day.

The group’s Task Days are held on the last Saturday of each month during the winter months and on the last Saturday from the months of April to September.

The next one is due to be held on

Saturday 26 November between 10am and 2pm.

A group spokesman said: “We were busy clearing leaves and pruning shrubs as we prepared for the Remembrance Service

“The council has been supporting, with the clearing of leaves on a daily basis as well as the cleaning of the flag poles, which was a tricky task

“The Friends of Redish Vale Park also came to our aid with the loan of a leaf blower after ours started to smoke, so thanks to them and the council for their help over the last week.”

“Everyone is welcome to join in for as long or as short a time as they wish during the specified times.

“Please note that children should be accompanied by a responsible adult.”
