Felix fits the bill
COUNTY chief Jim Gannon moved swiftly to bolster his ranks after his side’s disappointing 2-1 home loss to Bradford PA on Saturday.
The Hatters added York City winger Kaine Felix to their squad on Monday evening, with the 21-yearold attacker making the move to Edgeley Park on a two-month loan deal.
Felix only joined the struggling National League side in June, having impressed for County’s divisional rivals Boston Utd last campaign, helping the Pilgrims into the National League North play-offs. The inside forward will be a familiar face to County fans, after scoring the opener and turning in a dazzling performance in Boston’s crushing 4-0 win over Neil Young’s County side last December.
The youngster made 76 appearances for Dennis Greene’s side up until his departure this summer, scoring eight goals and claiming 19 assists.
Boss Gannon has spoken in recent weeks about having funds available to strengthen his side – but has repeatedly stated that only the “right players at the right time” would be brought in to Edgeley Park; and the Hatters manager made the move on Monday evening.
“County fans who saw Kaine play last season will already know that he’s a player with tremendous pace and ability, as well as an eye for goal,” Gannon said.
“But I’ve been really impressed by his statistics in terms of creating opportunities for his team mates, so we’re very pleased to bring him into the group.”
“We’ve been looking for a while to find more natural balance on the righthand side because we’ve been asking players to play out of position, so hopefully Kaine will provide that outlet for us during a busy period in the campaign, with a minimum of eight games during that time.”
Felix became instantly available for selection upon his signing, appearing in line to make his Hatters debut, with County due to travel to Tamworth last night as the Express went to print.
