Stars are out to support ball in honour of tragic stuntman

-

CORONATION Street star Kym Marsh dazzled in a sparkling red gown as she hosted a Hollywoodthemed charity ball held in honour of tragic Stockportraised stuntman Darren Shahlavi.

Kym joined Key 103 radio host Mike Toolan and comedy star Jason Manford at the Future Recruitment ball at the Hallmark Hotel in Handforth.

And Kym had a whale of a time on stage with Jason, tweeting afterwards: “You were so funny last night @ JasonManford.”

Jason took a break from his hectic schedule of rehearsals to perform at the charity ball, ahead of starring in musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at The Lowry theatre, which launches this week.

And kind-hearted Jason even donated £600 during the charity auction to win a night with himself, joking that it meant he could go home early.

The stars were out to support the ball held in honour of Hollywood actor and martial artist Darren, who died suddenly at the age of just 42 last year from a heart attack.

He was well known for his lightning-fast martial arts moves and super-fit physique and, after moving from Stockport to Hollywood in 2012 to further his career, starred in back-to-back Jean Claude Van Damme movies with his childhood hero.

But on January 14 last year he died suddenly from a heart attack - despite being in top physical condition his whole life, he had an undiagnosed heart condition that could have been prevented by early detection and treatment.

His family and friends organised the ball in his honour and to help raise awareness of undiagnosed heart conditions in the hope lives can be saved.

They are supporting the Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) campaign to raise awareness and funds for life-saving screening.
