Coma man makes amazing recovery
AYOUNG music fan who was left fighting for his life after being hit by a van is now making a remarkable recovery.
Keiron Pulford, 32, was walking home after a gig at Sound Control in Manchester when he was hit by a Ford Transit Van on Stockport Road West, at the junction of Bredbury Morrisons at 1.10am on Thursday, October 13.
Keiron, who lives in Bredbury and works at Move Dancewear in Manchester, suffered a number of serious injuries, including a cracked skull and a bleed on the brain.
He was in a coma for several weeks and his family faced an anxious wait as his life hung in the balance.
But now, just nine weeks on, Keiron has beaten the odds and has astonished everyone with his progress.
Despite the severity of his injuries, he has started walking and talking again, and although he still has a long recovery ahead of him, he has been well enough to be transferred from Salford Royal to a hospital close to his mum’s house in Nottingham, where he continues to improve every day.
Shortly after the accident, Kerion’s friend Sarah Healey set up a fundraising page so Keiron’s mum Cheryl Rowland and her partner Manuel, who live more than 80 miles from Salford, could stay nearby.
The fund smashed its £3,000 target after friends and his workplace rallied round to raise money, and will now be used to help Keiron in his rehabilitation.
Sarah said: “He’s an absolute miracle, it’s amazing.
“He’s walking and talking now and he’s due to start rehabilitation to work on his speech and memory. He’s doing really, really well.
“It’s an awful lot of relief for his family, he’s here, he’s with us and he’s okay. We’re just going forward now and looking to the future.
“We just want to say thank you to everyone who helped to raise that £3,000, especially Move Dancewear and his friend Tristan Walsh, it’s going to help Keiron so much.
“Salford Royal were absolutely incredible with Keiron and the family, they were just amazing.”
Police launched an investigation after the accident, but no arrests have been made.
