Suspect is tasered after ‘high speed’ chase
THIS is the dramatic moment a man is chased down and tasered following a ‘high-speed’ pursuit through Cheadle.
Mobile phone footage shows the suspect running along Kingsway, followed by uniformed officers in high-vis jackets, and one in plain clothes.
He then jumps over a front wall before he is stopped and detained.
You can also see on the video how one uniformed officer is standing on the other side of the wall, pointing what appears to be the taser. GMP have confirmed it was deployed during the incident.
The force said officers responded to reports of a dangerous driver, and took up the pursuit after the vehicle failed to stop.

One resident, who recorded the chase from her window, said: “I heard a loud bang and looked out my window and saw some guy jumping on a police car. I got my phone out to film it, but by the time I had he was running down the street being chased by police.
“I think he threw his jacket at them, and they tasered him and arrested him.”
Another witness said the chase reached speeds of around 90mph.
It happened close to Kingsway’s junction with Gatley Road at around 11pm on Saturday, December 3.
A spokesman for GMP said: “Shortly before 11pm on Saturday, police were called to Kingsway, Cheadle, to reports of a dangerous driver.
“Officers attended and signalled for the driver to stop however the man fled and a short pursuit ensued.
“A 38-year-old man was subsequently arrested for dangerous driving, taking of a motor vehicle and criminal damage.
“During the incident a taser was deployed.”
