Appeal after 73-year-old woman is victim of carjack at knifepoint
POLICE have launched an appeal for witnesses after a pensioner was carjacked at knifepoint in Stockport.
The 73-year-old woman was getting into her car on Shaw Road, in Heaton Moor, when a man approached her at about 12.50pm on Saturday, January 21.
The man pulled open the driver door and told her to get out of the car.
He then reached down and removed a four inch knife from his sock, before threatening her with it.
The woman got out of the vehicle and the man jumped into the driver’s seat.
He started to drive the car away, but collided with a parked car and the vehicle was later found abandoned on Kings Drive.
The offender is described as white, in his late 20s, between 5ft 7in and 5ft 9in tall and of skinny build.
He had brown medium length hair and was wearing a blue sports top with blue jeans.
Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
PC Scott Dugan, of GMP’s Stockport Borough, said: “It is fortunate that the woman was not injured in this horrific carjacking, but she has been left terrified after being threatened at knifepoint.
“Any information, no matter how small could be vital to helping our investigation.”
