HOLLYWOOD star Russell Brand will be in Stockport when he brings his new live tour to the stage next year,

The 41-year-old comedian will appear at Stockport Plaza, Mersey Square, on February 28, 2018.

It is part of his Russell Brand Re-birth Tour that will last 18 months across the UK and Ireland, and those at the theatre cannot wait for his visit which comes complete with an age warning.

Manager Ted Doan said: “Countdown has begun for one of my personal favourite stars to join us for his show which is suitable for those of us aged 16 and over.

“It promises to be one of the absolute highlights of our spring 2018 season and we are delighted the theatre is part of his tour.”

During the tour Russell will attempt to tackle the issues of modern media, politics, sex, fatherhood and death in a humorous fashion

And the theme running through the show is him trying to make sense of life at the same time as having just made a new one for himself.

This has led critics to describe the show as thought-provoking as well as funny.

Speaking about the inspiration for his routine Russell said: “How do we make sense of the madness of our lives once we become parents?

“What am I going to tell my daughter about conformity and responsibility?

“What happens if she grows up to be like me or, worse, date someone like me?”

Since shooting to fame in 2003 Russell has embarked on numerous tours as well as appearing in Hollywood films.

Among his big-screen hits are Forgetting Sarah Marshall, St Trinian’s and Army of One. But he has become equally as famous for courting controversy, including an incident when he called actor Andrew Sachs and left numerous messages regarding his granddaughter, that led Brand to be suspended by the BBC.

Tickets for the show, which begins at 8pm, are now on sale and can be booked via the Plaza’s website.
