POLICE hope a teenager robber’s distinctive facial moles could help catch a gang responsible for violently attacking a boy.

The 14-year-old victim was repeatedly punched in the head during a street robbery on Cheadle Road, near the campus of Cheadle and Marple Sixth Form College.

He was set upon by a group of five teens - four male, one female - and had his Apple iPhone and red and black Beats Solo headphones stolen.

Police have appealed for witnesses and say the individual believed to be among the group’s ringleaders was ‘pale with moles on his face’.

He is also said to be white, aged 16, 5ft 10in tall, with blond hair and wearing a black hooded top with blue on the chest and shoulders.

Officers think such a specific description means there is a good chance there will be people who know those responsible.

A police spokesman said: “Hopefully people may have noticed a group of that size on the road at the time.

“There is also a distinctive description of one of those involved, who had moles on his face, that hopefully someone will recognise.

“Anyone who does should get in contact to help identify him and the others.”

Another member of the gang is described as a black female, aged around 16, 5ft 10in tall, with a hairstyle that was ‘parted away from her face’. She wore a black hooded jacket with a beige fur collar and black leggings.

The other three youngsters involved are said to be white males but are not further described.

After the attack the gang fled along Cheadle Road in the direction of Cheadle district centre.

The value of the goods stolen was around £500 and the victim, though shaken, was not seriously injured.

Anyone with information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
