Mellor close gap on rivals

WITH top club Whalley Range having no game Mellor took the chance to close the gap at the top of the Premier to ten points with 5-0 win away at High Lane whilst mid-table Rochdalian­s also won 5-0 at home to Old Ashtonians. In the only other game in the division Tintwistle comfortabl­y defeated Bedians 3-0.

In Division One, Stoconians won 6-3 against Didsbury FC and Trafford Utd won 4-0 away at Oldham Victoria.

Division Three Didsbury Reserves enjoyed a 3-0 win away at Heaton Mersey and Newton Heath Reserves maintained their third place with a3-1 win at Cheadle Hulme.

In Division B, Hillgate managed a 6-2 win at home to Bedians Reserves.

In Division C, Parrswood Celtic thirds ran out 5-3 winners at Moston Brook fourths and Stoconians thirds comfortabl­y won 8-2 at home to AFC Stockport.

In Division D, Bedians thirds won convincing­ly, 4-0 at home to Droylsden Youth and second place Trafford United Reserves also won 4-0 away at Chorltonia­ns Athletic. Third place Didsbury fourths finished on the better side of a five goal match, with a 3-2 victory over AFC Oldham 4ths and in the other two matches Swinton Reserves won 3-2 at Old Stretfordi­ans 3rds and bottom club Whalley Range 4ths were soundly beaten 9-3 by Staly Lions 3rds
