SEVEN MILES OUT
AT Seven Miles Out we have a wonderful community of music lovers who support our live music nights and social events.
Every first Friday of the month at 7.30pm we are delighted to hold Twang! – our music evening hosted by the Stockport Ukulele Players.
Over the last 12 months since we started it, Twang! has attracted ukulele players of all ages from the under-tens to the over nineties and they are coming from all over the North West to Stockport Old Town.
Twang! is pretty much a unique evening. We now regularly have more than 50 ukulele players all singing and strumming and then the Open Mic gives all kinds of performers the platform to share their talent to a very appreciative audience.
If you haven’t had the Twang! experience, please come and check it out.
You can bring your own ukulele or we have one you can borrow. Other instruments are also very welcome.
The first Saturday of the month is our regular Saturday Sessions evening curated by the very wonderful Kamey McNamara. Kamey runs Community Music which delivers music lessons and workshops as well as Stockport Music Project (STOMP) which offers young people aged 11-16 years free music workshops.
Kamey is a tour de force as anyone will know who’s seen her perform with her own band Mama Goose.
Every month Kamey puts together a great line-up of performers for a night that has become one of the most popular in Seven Miles Out. This Saturday from 7.30pm you can enjoy the talents of Phil Taylor Fleming solo acoustic playing flavours of jazz, blues and flamenco with some covers thrown in, Jules Musgrove - solo acoustic playing original indie/ folk songs, I Am Mechanical - two guys from Manchester who love to make noise, Roosevelt Room - an original band playing alternative pop rock and The Story - country flavoured rock classics ranging from Springsteen to The Eagles and Knopfler to the Doobies but with the odd curve ball thrown in the mix.
Saturday Sessions is a chilled-out night with a great atmosphere for people who love to be entertained with an eclectic range of music. It’s completely free and under-18s are very welcome with an adult. If anyone would like to play at future events, please drop an email to Kamey at this address; info@community-music.co.uk or message Community Music on Facebook.
