PURE 107.8FM

- PAUL HOLLOWAY

STOCKPORT’S radio station Pure 107.8FM announced last week that unless they find new financial backers the station could close at the end of the Stockport County’s football season. Drive time presenter Paul Holloway explains how you can help.

Pure Innovations, the charity which runs Pure 107.8FM, has announced it’s looking for local organisations to step in and replace it as license holder for Stockport’s radio station.

Unless new partners can be found before the end of the football season, the license will be handed back to Ofcom and Pure 107.8FM will go off the air.

This decision has been taken reluctantly. Austerity measures have affected the income the charity receives to run projects for disadvantaged and disabled people, meaning it can no longer cover the radio station’s running costs.

But every effort is being taken behind the scenes to find solutions. You might not have the money we need to invest into the station but you can still help.

We’ve been asking our listeners to take to social media and tell us what Pure means to them. This can help to raise awareness so potential backers come forward but also it demonstrates how valued Pure is in the community.

We’ve had a great reaction from Stockport County fans and Stopfordians in exile who listen via our website. They have told us we provide a link back to their home town.

Local MPs and bands who have enjoyed their first radio play, including Blossoms, have all been getting involved.

You can help too – take to social media and use #SavePure1078. In the meanwhile we are working hard to explore potential solutions.

Thanks for all your support – find out more www.facebook.com/ pureradio and @pure1078 on Twitter.
