Society is cracking at fundraising
YORKSHIRE Building Society is lending a helping hand to the annual Easter Knitted Chick fundraising appeal run by Francis House Children’s Hospice.
The society’s branch, on Great Underbank, is collecting small chocolate eggs for the hospice to fill the thousands of chicks knitted and crocheted by their supporters.
Last year the Easter Chick Appeal raised more than £27,500 for the hospice that provides respite care for children and young adults with life-threatening conditions throughout the Greater Manchester area.
Rachel Astill, fundraiser at Francis House, said: “For every chick that is kindly knitted, we need a chocolate egg to put inside.
“These cute chicks are then sold by our fundraisers to local schools for £1 and everyone involved has so much fun.
“Most importantly thousands of pounds are raised every year through the appeal to help provide the services at the hospice that are a lifeline to so many families.”
Tim Moore, manager of the Stockport branch of Yorkshire Building Society, said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the response of our egg appeal for Francis House so far – it’s a cause that is clearly close to peoples’ hearts.
“Every single egg donated to will help raise much-needed funds to support the invaluable work done by the hospice staff and volunteers.”
The branch is open for donations Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, Wednesday 9.30am to 5pm and Saturday 9am to noon.
