Charity was the clear choice for £5k support
INDEPENDENT Options, a charity which works with children and adults with disabilities in the Stockport area, has received much-needed support from Anglian Home Improvements in the form of a £5,000 donation.
To mark its 50th anniversary, Anglian Home Improvements carried out a nationwide community appeal to find 50 worthy causes to support across the UK.
The company, which has a showroom on Dooley Street in Stockport, was inundated with requests from community groups, schools, local organisations and charities requiring new windows or doors, a financial donation or another gesture of support.
After careful consideration by a panel of judges, which included television and radio presenter Philippa Forrester, staff at Anglian Home Improvements selected Independent Options as one of its 50 chosen causes to which to lend a helping hand.
Independent Options provides support to children and adults with disabilities by helping them take control of their lives, achieve their aspirations and enjoy life to the full.
Anglian Home Improvements’ donation of £5,000 will not only help the organisation to continue its work, but will also enable it to create a sensory garden for disabled children at its Children and Family Centre.
Lucy Sawdon-Molloy, fundraising manager at Independent Options, said: “In order to continue to make a difference to the local community, we rely heavily on funding which is getting more difficult every year.
“We are therefore extremely grateful to Anglian Home Improvements for its donation of £5,000.
“Our Children and Family Centre caters for those who have learning disabilities such as autism and Down’s syndrome and who highly benefit from additional sensory input.
“Anglian’s donation will enable us to produce a beautiful sensory garden which will allow the children to improve their communication skills with one another.”
