DANCE students have been moving in celebrity circles with a TV appearance and visit from Britain’s Got Talent winners.

Jordan Banjo and Peri Kiely from Diversity, a dance group that won the 2009 series of the talent show, visited Debut Arts Academy, in central Stockport.

And some pupils from the dance school, on Hillgate, also appeared on Channel 4’s Eight out of 10 Cats to perform a routine as part of the comedy panel show.

During the Diversity visit, Jordan and Peri ran a practice session and were available to give hints and advice to the students.

Carolann Bruce, director at Debut Arts Academy, said: “The boys were so down to earth and made time to have photos with every student and to sign t-shirts and pictures at the end of the day.

“They made every student feel special and they had a talk with the older students who want to work professionally and told them all about their journey and about working in the industry. We have met many celebrities at Debut but none have been as nice as Diversity.

“We were so honoured to have them with us for the day and the boys enjoyed their time with us so much that they are already talking about coming back.”

Eight students won a part to dance on Eight out of 10 Cats and met host Jimmy Carr, who even joined in the dance number.

Others have been backing dancers for acts including Bucks Fizz, Scooch, S Club, Pixie Lott and even Take That. Students Ryan James and Vicki Earle are currently waiting to find out if they have landed a role in hit TV show Cold Feet following an audition.

Carolann added: “The academy students have also done really well this year and in the last few months have supported and performed alongside many stars.

“Our students are doing so well and we are really proud of every one of them as well as our teachers.

“Stockport has so much talent and its time we were all recognised for our achievements within the performing arts industry.”

The academy is now partnered with Stockport College to provide funded BTEC and HNC/HND courses.
