Bingo in cancer call

-

TOWN hall bosses in Stockport are calling full house on bowel cancer after teaming up with Gala Bingo to increase awareness of screening.

Council staff joined players for two special events at the borough’s bingo hall on Newbridge Lane in the town centre, to provide advice and answer questions.

Kevin Feeley from Gala Bingo said they were pleased to work with the council to promote the screening programme ‘as many of our players fall in to the target age group for screening.’

People aged 60 to 74, registered with a GP, will receive a screening kit through the post every two years. It is designed to detect the early signs of bowel cancer.
