BREWERY staff are celebrating after claiming a gong at the Going Places UK Tourism Awards.

Since opening in 2013 Robinson’s Visitors Centre, in Stockport town centre, has welcomed thousands of people from across the globe through its doors.

And now the centre, which covers the history and process of the company’s beer making, has been named north west visitor attraction of the year.

As well as tours it also hosts events including the launch of rock band Iron Maiden’s Trooper beer and a Man versus Food challenge with chef Simon Rimmer.

Olivia Wilson, general manager of the centre, said: “We are extremely proud to have received this accolade, especially when you consider the brilliant attractions and venues that the north west has to offer.

“We really couldn’t have done it without our brilliant staff, chefs and, of course, our customers.”

William Robinson, managing director, added: “It is a great honour to receive this award. Since opening our visitors centre has played a vital role in showcasing the rich history of our business and the history of Stockport.”
