Pre-quiz favourites Elite rise to the top on

- COUNTY SUPPORTERS CO-OPERATIVE IAN BROWN

COUNTY had just posted an emphatic victory in dispatching Curzon Ashton 3-1 at Edgeley Park, when a goodly number of the 3,495 at the game, headed off to the Spinning Top for the latest round of the Supporters Cooperative’s ‘County Quiz’, in support of the Guardian Account.

The early activity seemed to centre around getting a pint , but it was not long before genial Quizmaster, and Cooperative Board Member, Nick Lee called for order and signalled we were about to start.

Eight teams signed up, which was a really great response.

Early favourites Coop Elite drew booing from the other teams by preparing to make their victory bow before proceedings started. ‘Hedgies heroes’ were rumoured to have included altitude training in their preparation for the event , whilst the surprise entry came from top band ‘Mutha Luvin Chimps’ who took time out before their sound check to support the event.

The questions were set at a very reasonable level….hard…but not eye wateringly so, and the end result was an enjoyable experience. HERE is how they finished…. So, Coop Elite were finally able to make their victory bow.

Later, Supporters Coop Events Manager Dave Marchbank announced the event had raised circa £300 for the Guardian Account, helped by Spinning Top landlord Mike Swann extending the 10% donation beyond the 8pm cut off.
