TWO violent thugs have been jailed after they tied a man up in his own home and stabbed him in the eye during an ‘horrific’ attack.

Ryan Patton, 21, of Brinnington and Kyle Bond, 19, of Reddish first met their victim near McColls newsagents on Mersey Square, in Stockport on July 1 last year. They threatened him and stole £20 before running off.

Minshull Crown Court heard that later that evening the victim saw Patton and Bond again near Stockport bus station and asked for his money back. They again threatened him and insisted he get in their car and be driven back to his home.

Once inside Patton, of Wiltshire Avenue, became aggressive and pulled out a knife and Bond tied him to a radiator.

The victim, who was in his 20s, was left with suspected nose and cheekbone fractures after he was held at knifepoint and repeatedly punched.

Patton was sentenced to eight-and-a-half years’ imprisonment after admitted a string of offences including robbery, false imprisonment and assault occasioning grievous bodily harm at a previous hearing. Bond was jailed for five-and-a-half years, having previously pleaded guilty to the same offences.

Detective Constable Jane Dodd said: “This victim was subjected to a horrific and prolonged attack in his own home, which is somewhere he should feel safe.

“The level of violence used was abhorrent and both men are now behind bars for their actions.”

Following the attack the pair stole their victim’s car but were arrested when they crashed in Brinnington.

Several hours later the victim managed to escape and went to hospital. His eye was not damaged.

Bond had also admitted aggravated vehicle-taking and cannabis possession.

Patton also pleaded guilty to these offences as well as assault occasioning actual bodily harm and theft of jewellery and clothing.

At the time of the attack, on July 1 last year, Patton was serving an 18-month conditional discharge for his part in a racist attack on an Asian man in Stockport centre.

He admitted causing racially aggravated harassment, alarm or distress after he was heard ‘aggressively’ boasting his friend had ‘proper smashed the P*** bastard.’
